Have you stopped to wonder why customers choose you over their competitors? I hear from business owners over and over that they have great “customer service” and are really friendly that’s why people go to them and not their competitors? But is that enough? Sadly customer service in Australia has been known to be very average. So maybe “great customer service” is enough to set you apart from your competitors. But guess what? Your competitors have cottoned on and changing the way they deliver their products and services. So what can you do to be less “Vanilla”? Here are 3 ways you can help your business to stand out from the crowd.
- Be more creative with your marketing – from the heading, to the copy and right through to your image. Make sure you have something that stands out. Remember you have 3 seconds to make a difference and get people wanting to know more about you and your business.
- Give your prospects and customers a WOW factor – and I don’t mean just friendly customer service. Something that gets them saying to their friends “Wow I got this amazing thing from this business – you have to check them out”. It’s like that great restaurant where they bring over a free glass of bubbles when it’s your birthday. It doesn’t cost much to WOW your crowd!
- Let people know you care – so many businesses take their customers for granted. Did you know that 65% of customers when surveyed leave a business not because they liked it or didn’t but because of “indifference”. Let them know that you care and value their business. I have an accountant who every year sends me a personal birthday card with a little chocolate freddo frog. So simple and yet so effective. I read this article recently that talked about “making your clients their celebrities”. As business owners we spend so much money on getting new customers that we forget about our current customers. If your customers are over the moon happy with you…they become your marketing.
